Kean Pride Shines at 2025 Homecoming Celebration

Cougar pride roared across Kean University’s main campus on Saturday, October 4, as alumni, students, families and friends returned for Homecoming 2025.
The day-long celebration brought together members of the Kean community for an energetic mix of food trucks, carnival-style games, children’s activities and spirited student and alumni tailgates. The excitement carried into Alumni Stadium, where fans cheered on the Kean Cougar football team as they took the field against Montclair State University.
"Homecoming is a powerful celebration of tradition, spirit and pride. It’s Cougar Nation at its very best,” said Kean President Lamont O. Repollet, Ed.D. “When our alumni return, they bring pride and a love for Kean that strengthen our community and inspire the next generation.”
That sense of connection was echoed by alumni who reflected on their experiences at Kean and the transformation of the campus over the years.
“The campus is gorgeous, and the growth has been amazing,” said alumna Catherine Apgar ‘60. “I just love coming back, and I work every event I possibly can.”
Homecoming also offered family-friendly fun for alumni and their children, with inflatables, carnival games and other activities filling the campus greens.
“It’s our third year here for homecoming and it’s really nice, the kids love it,” said Charles Ojeh, who attended with his wife, Assistant Professor Kalasia Ojeh, Ph.D., and their three young children. “It’s good to be part of the community and it’s a beautiful experience.”
Students embraced the chance to showcase their spirit, with various clubs and organizations hosting tailgates filled with music and school pride.
“This is my second homecoming, and I love the community here,” said Taylor Bryan, a member of the Kean Class of 2026 and Sigma Gamma Rho sorority. “It’s about family, friends and creating a welcoming environment. Even if you don’t know anyone, you can meet someone and make new connections.”
The energy on campus reflected Kean’s mission of inclusivity and community engagement, reminding alumni why the University continues to feel like home.
“Seeing our alumni return to campus with their families and friends always captures the spirit of Kean,” said Carol Ann Koert, director of alumni engagement. “Homecoming isn’t just about alumni reminiscing about their time here, it’s about Cougar pride and the shared joy of being part of the wider campus community.”
Homecoming also gave families the chance to share the tradition with their children, sparking Cougar pride in the next generation.
“The kids woke up excited, and it’s good for them to be part of a campus atmosphere and see what college life looks like. They have a blast,” added Ojeh.
